About OLLI

WHAT IS OLLI?

Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) is a special, daytime program of Northwestern's School of Continuing Studies. Our learning community generates an exciting and intellectually challenging curriculum of over 60 study groups, serving over 500 adults on the Evanston and Chicago campuses. Composed of "seasoned learners" from all walks of life, OLLI members pursue learning for pure pleasure: there are no tests, no grades, no age restrictions. Our motto is, "Curiosity Never Retires," and the OLLI experience proves it!

OLLI is committed to the concept that older adults learn best when they are active in their own learning process. Using our method of peer learning, members are enthusiastically engaged in proposing topics, facilitating study groups, volunteering to be weekly discussion leaders, and serving on committees.

According to medical research, intellectual stimulation and social interaction are essential for good health. Mental exercise protects the brain just as physical exercise strengthens the heart. Energize your brain! Make new friends! Engage in lively and thoughtful discussions along with a truly vibrant community of lifelong learners. Join the OLLI community for a variety of learning experiences, and for the pleasure of learning and the spirit of friendship.

Learning takes a lifetime: Bring us your curiosity and we'll give you the time of your life.
