Lindsey Parker Novak
BPh, School of Continuing Studies, 1978
Lindsey Novak has blazed an ever-evolving career path since her days at Northwestern. Over the past 20 years she has worked as an editorial writer, paralegal, and workplace consultant, pausing occasionally to pursue a lifelong interest in acting - all fueled by her passion for communication.
Author of the nationally syndicated question-and-answer column "At Work" Novak never intended to be a writer; she double-majored in communication and psychology at Northwestern and hoped to become a psychotherapist. But then Professor Albert Carrier pulled her aside at the end of a public relations course and said, "I don't mean to change your life, but have you considered writing professionally?" Novak had not, but she took the compliment to heart and proceeded to take every writing course Northwestern offered.
