Elementary Chinese II

This second course in the Elementary Chinese sequence (111-A, -B, -C) emphasizes the sound and writing of Chinese characters, expands vocabulary, introduces additional fundamental grammar and sentence structures, and encourages students to practice the basic skills of the language. Speaking, listening, character, grammar, and communicative exercises are included throughout the course. The course focuses on the practical needs and interests of students. The content of the course begins with individual, family, and school activities, and then gradually expends to include wider social occasions and societal contact. The Blackboard online multimedia facilities are utilized for previews and reviews of covered lessons. Business Chinese is available upon request to meet the needs of students who wish to use Chinese for career challenges and opportunities. Prerequisite: AAL 111-A.
