Professional Graduate Series
The Professional Graduate Series in Creative Writing attracts
established writers, teachers, professionals, and students
who have some undergraduate writing experience or strong
academic records in the humanities. This series of workshops
provides a supportive setting where students can hone their
craft, explore new genres, or gain experience in teaching.
Faculty members are established, published writers, and their
goal is to foster an environment in which students provide
thoughtful critiques of others' work and push the limits
of their own creative boundaries. The series can also be
a means
of preparing for the MCW program and additional postgraduate
study.
Students take three workshops in a concentration - fiction,
creative nonfiction, or poetry - and one cross-genre writing
seminar. The professional graduate series usually can be
completed in a year by taking one or two courses per quarter.
It must be completed within two years of the date of acceptance.
Certificate of Completion
Prior to completion of their fourth course, students must
submit the "Application
for Professional Graduate Series Certificate" (PDF
Format) to be awarded the certificate.
