Recommendation File Service

Changes to SCS Recommendation File Service
SCS has streamlined its Recommendation File Service.
Students no longer have to wait for SCS to contact recommenders.
Instead, students can now initiate the process by contacting
the recommenders directly. The recommenders will mail
their recommendation letters to SCS, where they will
be assembled into a recommendation packet. For more
information, please see the section on how to arrange
for letters of recommendation under SCS
Recommendation File Service: Rules, Guidelines, and
Procedures. |
The School of Continuing Studies provides a recommendation
file service for students formally admitted to the Professional
Health Careers PDP. This service is also available to
admitted students who are completing an SCS undergraduate
degree with a major in Biology.
This service compiles letters of recommendation that have
been solicited by students. Once students have applied to
professional schools, a packet of letters will be sent out
to those schools, upon student request. Recommendation packets
consist of photocopies of the original recommendation letters,
a verification of program completion and authenticity of the
letters from the Assistant Dean for Undergraduate and Credit
Professional Programs, as well as an explanation of the Professional
Health Careers curriculum. The dean's letter explains
that the curriculum matches the science curriculum at the
day school and that the certificate is awarded by the Weinberg
College of Arts and Sciences at Northwestern University, which
is responsible for maintaining the program's high quality
standards. The fee for the service is $10 per recommendation
packet mailed.
