Degree Conversion Chart

SCS offers three undergraduate degrees. Two of these degrees are in collaboration with and conferred by the Judd A. and Marjorie Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences (Bachelor of Philosophy [BPhil], and Bachelor of Science in General Studies [BSGS]).

Bachelor of Philosophy (BPhil)

Current (Semester) Requirements Requirements after Quarter Conversion
To earn the BPhil degree, students must complete a total of 120 semester hours, including a 30- to 39-hour major, distribution requirements, electives, an English requirement and two years of study in a foreign language or foreign language proficiency as demonstrated by completion of the second semester of an intermediate-level language course at an accredited college or university. To earn the BPhil degree, students must complete total of 45 units, including a 10- to 23-unit major, distribution requirements, electives, an English requirement and two years of study in a foreign language or foreign language proficiency as demonstrated by completion of the second semester of an intermediate-level language course at an accredited college or university.

Bachelor of Science in General Studies (BSGS)

To earn the BSGS degree, students must complete a total of 120 semester hours, including a 30- to 39-hour major, distribution requirements, electives and an English requirement. Minors are no longer required for the BSGS degree. To earn the BSGS degree, students must complete a total of 45 units, including a 10- to 23-unit major, distribution requirements, electives and an English requirement. Minors are no longer required for the BSGS degree.

Minors are not required for a BPhilCom degree.
