This course will be held in Kresge Hall room 3335.
Instruction in drawing and composition with a concentration in oil painting techniques. This intensive workshop-style introduction to painting consists of two six-hour sessions each week with 30-minute lunch breaks. Individualized instruction and periodic discussions and critiques are intended especially for those with little or no painting experience. No previous studio experience required. A materials list is available from the art department. Enrollment is limited to 18.

Introduction to Photography

This course will be held in Kresge Hall room 3425.
This course is an introduction to photographic equipment, materials, and processes that includes extensive darkroom instruction in black-and-white printing and creative darkroom control. The aesthetics of camera vision are explored through classroom discussion and lectures. This is an intensive workshop-style class consisting of two six-hour sessions each week with 30-minute lunch breaks. Attendance at the first class meeting is required, and students must come equipped with a 35mm film camera that can be operated with all automatic settings off. Bring one roll of Kodak TriX film to the first class. No previous studio experience required. Enrollment is limited to 12.
