Helpful Information Now That You Have Registered

E-mail Accounts and NetIDs
Once you are registered, please go to the NUIT Support Center to activate your NetID and email account. A NetID allows access to e-mail, Blackboard, CAESAR, and other online resources. You must bring a valid picture ID.

Books
You may find books for your classes at the campus bookstore. Books are arranged by course and are stocked by campus; if you are enrolled classes on each campus, you must visit each bookstore to purchase your books.

Campus tours
A fun and interactive virtual tour of Northwestern University's Evanston campus is available at www.ugadm.northwestern.edu/tour (requires Flash and Quicktime).

Walking tours are given daily, and last about an hour and a half. Reservations are not required and tours leave the Office of Undergraduate Admission, 1801 Hinman Avenue, each week day according to the following schedule: June - August 10 a.m., noon, and 2 p.m. A brochure for self-guided tours that showcases some of the more important Northwestern University landmarks is available at www.ugadm.northwestern.edu/pdf/tour_brochure.pdf (PDF Format)

Libraries
Northwestern's library system includes the University Library and three branch libraries on the Evanston campus, as well as three libraries on the Chicago campus. Computer labs

Health Service
Office visits are arranged by appointment at the University Health Service, and students may fill prescriptions at the pharmacy. Northwestern students registered for two or more summer courses may use the service free of charge for office visits and certain laboratory tests. Northwestern students registered for only one course and SCS students registered for courses in a degree program may purchase coverage or use a fee-for-service system. Health insurance is not available to visiting students. Please contact the Health Service for immunization requirements for new students.

The Writing Place

Transportation
Northwestern University is conveniently located close to several public transportation options. CTA buses and elevated trains run regularly between Evanston and Chicago and Metra commuter rail service is available to and from the surrounding suburbs. Norris Center Mini Courses
The Norris Mini Course program has been a Northwestern tradition for over a decade. Each quarter, this recreational program offers something for everyone: from dance to photography, ceramics to Pilates. All courses are non-credit and require pre-registration. Fees vary depending on the course. Please note: mini courses may not be substituted for credit bearing courses. Check the Norris web site for complete mini course listings: www.norris.northwestern.edu/mc_main.php. Mini courses for Summer are usually posted in May.
