Disability Services
It is Northwestern University policy to ensure that no qualified
student with a disability is denied the benefits of, excluded
from participation in, or otherwise subjected to discrimination
in any University program or activity. In response to a request
made by a qualified student with a documented disability,
the University will arrange, at no cost to the student, for
the provision of educational auxiliary aids, including sign
language interpreters, real-time captioners, note takers and
tutors, determined by the University to be necessary to afford
such a student the opportunity for full participation in University
programs.
Northwestern University's programs and activities
are accessible for full participation to all its students,
including those with mobility, auditory or visual limitations
and with other concerns such as learning disabilities.
It is important for students who need assistance with regard
to any disability to notify SCS and the Office of Services
for Students with Disabilities on the Evanston campus so the
University can assist them in obtaining appropriate services.
A brochure, Services for Students with Disabilities, describes
various support services and includes maps of the Evanston
and the Chicago campuses that indicate building access and
parking locations. The brochure is available in both SCS offices,
in University admission offices, in the Office of Services
for Students with Disabilities, and online at www.northwestern.edu/disability.
Students may also phone 847-491-7458.
