Special Instructions

Performance-Based Admission and Transfer Students

Degree-seeking students must meet with an academic adviser before their initial course registration. Call 312-503-6950 to schedule an appointment. Students must complete a Credit Evaluation Request Form (PDF Format) in order to receive an official evaluation of transfer credit.

International Students

Please contact the International Office (630 Dartmouth Place, Evanston, 847-491-5613) to determine whether your proposed program of study meets the criteria for the F-1 visa category and whether an I-20 document can be issued for full-time study.

Students Whose Native Language Is Not English

In addition to meeting the basic enrollment requirements and holding an appropriate visa, students must present evidence of the ability to speak, read, and write the English language by achieving a score of at least 600 (paper version), 250 (electronic version), or 100 (Internet version) on the TOEFL.

Students Enrolled Elsewhere

Students who are enrolled at another college or university are responsible for obtaining permission to take courses at SCS and to arrange for the transfer of credits.

Students enrolled in another school at Northwestern should register for SCS courses through their own schools. SCS students have priority for courses where enrollment is limited.

Students-at-Large

Students not seeking a bachelor's degree or certificate must register as students-at-large. To register as a new student-at-large, complete the Registration Form, checking student-at-large under “Student Status,” and fill in the desired course(s). Returning students-at-large must register using CAESAR.
